Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has been covering areas of war for over 45 years. Her research focuses on the human suffering of disasters and human tragedy. Curry covered the conflicts that raged in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Her father served as an U.S. Navy sailor. Her father was with the mother of her in Japan when he was a stationed in Japan following World War II. She graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Oregon in 1978. When she was 22, she was able to become the first reporter to be female at KTVL. Then, she stepped into the role of anchor and reporter for KGW, which is an NBC affiliate station in Portland. After four years, she was hired as an anchor by KCBS TV which is located in Los Angeles. In her time with the channel, she won two Emmy Awards.
